App Inventor Workshop

During 4 April 2015, i joined App Inventor Workshop that held at Industry Lab, Faculty of Information Science And Technology (Fakulti Teknologi dan Sains Maklumat, FTSM), UKM Bangi.
This workshop was held by MxY Lab for the members of Mobile Application Development Club, also known as MAD Club.

The purpose of the 9-hour workshop is to give an introduction on how to build a mobile application using App Inventor 2. Futhermore, the members of MAD Club have been assigned to build a mobile application with the theme of Responsibility towards Nature.

This is the brief description of MIT App Inventor 2 :
App Inventor is a cloud-based tool, which means that you can build apps right in your web browser. This website offers all of the support that you'll need as you learn how to build your own apps.

These are the pictures during the workshop.

One student were provided a PC with a full access of internet (LAN).
The instructor of the workshop is a graduate students of FTSM (member of MyX Lab), Coach Ali Kahwaji.

The morning session, the participants were exposed to the beginner tutorial of using App Inventor.
All the tutorial were easy to understand and simple.
Besides, the instructor also taught us how to use all the features in the software and how to make the application works in our android smartphone.
However, due to the low wireless internet connection, only some student able to view the application on their smartphone. The rest were using emulator (provided in the software).

These are some of simple application that I've created.

In my opinion, it is a great opportunity for me by having a knowledge on how to build my own mobile application.
Besides, i hope there will be another workshop of the advance level  for me to attend.

Za'abaStagram Competition

During 1 Mac to 15 Mac 2015, i signed up for Za'abStagram Competition as one of the crew.

My role in the crew was an editor.
The participants sent us their selected picture(s) via email - zaabastagram@gmail.com
I edited all the submitted pictures by adding a frame using Abode Photoshop CS4 as the indication of the participation.
After the editing, the other crew will upload the edited pictures on the instgram and ready for the viewers to like.
At the end of the competition, the 3 winner were selected based on the total likes on their submitted picture(s) - since one participant allowed to submit one or more pictures.

My opinion becoming one of the crew is really challenging although this competition was held virtually.
I need to attend a couple of meetings since December 2014, extracting ideas with the other crews how to attract other students of UKM to participate this competition.
We need to figure out how to increase the funding for the winners' prizes.
At the early moment was really slow but at the end we got 1 to 4 participation a day.
Therefore, i learned how to manage myself for this role besides my role as a student.
Finally, i would like to state that this competition entirely enjoyable and fun since I was making friends with all the crews that consist of students with different major and ages.
